Privacy Policy

Tree Wellfinder ("Tree," "we," or "us") helps you find oil and gas wells. This policy explains the information involved when you use the site, sign in, mark a well, submit a correction, or subscribe.

1. Information we handle

• Account: your email address, account identifier, sign-in and session information.
• Well activity: wells you save or mark, well access history, and related account records. Recent wells and some saved or marked information may also be stored in your browser.
• Device location: when you grant location permission for features such as locating yourself, marking a well, or submitting a correction or missing well. A mark or submission sends observed coordinates and GPS accuracy to our database. If a photo-backed correction or missing-well form is made available, a report can also include a photo, well details, and information extracted from the photo.
• Billing: subscription status, trial history, Stripe customer and subscription identifiers, and payment events needed to provide access and support. Stripe handles checkout and payment details; Tree does not ask you to enter a card number into its own pages.
• Technical information: our hosting and service providers may process requests, IP address, browser and device information, timestamps, and diagnostic or security data needed to deliver and protect the service.
• Messages: information you send to our support address.

2. How we use it

We use this information to sign you in, search for wells, show maps and location features, sync your saved and marked wells, apply free and paid access, process billing and support requests, review corrections, protect the service, and meet applicable legal obligations.

3. Location and maps

Your browser asks permission before Tree uses device location. You can deny or change that permission in your browser or device settings; features that require GPS may then be unavailable. When you open a map, ArcGIS map imagery or tiles may receive technical requests and the map area being displayed. If you choose directions, Google Maps or Apple Maps receives the well destination, and the provider may handle your location under its own privacy practices. Well locations shown in Tree are separate from your device's location.

4. Where information goes

We use Supabase for accounts and well records, Cloudflare for site hosting and requests, and Stripe for subscription checkout and billing. Map providers receive requests when their features load or when you open directions. Our email routing and destination inbox handle messages sent to support. These providers process information needed to perform those services. Content delivery providers also receive requests when your browser loads app code. We may disclose information when required by law or to protect users, property, or the service.

5. Browser storage and retention

Tree stores sign-in state and some recent, saved, and marked well information in browser storage so the app works across visits. Clearing browser storage removes those local copies but does not necessarily remove your account, server records, or billing history. Server records are kept while needed to run accounts, access limits, billing, correction review, support, security, and legal obligations. How long each record is kept depends on its purpose; contact us if you want us to review or delete information associated with your account.

6. Your choices

You can avoid giving Tree device location permission, remove local browser data, and contact us about access to or deletion of your account information at [email protected]. Some records may need to be kept for billing, legal, fraud prevention, or the integrity of a well correction. Canceling a subscription does not automatically delete your account or saved wells.

7. Security, children, and updates

We use service providers and access controls to protect information, but no internet service can guarantee perfect security. Tree is built for field and industry use, not directed to children. We may update this policy as the app changes and will post the revised version here, with notice of material changes when appropriate.
